helloDarwin, a Montreal startup formerly known as B2BQuotes, is getting $2 million in funding from BDC and Tactico Venture Capital.

Real Ventures and existing angel investors rounded out the funding.

helloDarwin is a "business matchmaking platform" that brings together clients looking for services. The platform is a free service for clients trying to find partners to help them complete projects. helloDarwin charges a fee from service providers to bid on assignments.

These services can include digital transformation, web development, digital marketing, marketing strategy, CRM/ERP, app development, accounting services and HR. It also includes service providers, like agencies and freelancers.

Founded in 2017, helloDarwin says it has a roster of close to 4,500 service providers. The startup say it has marched those service providers with more than 6,200 client projects with a value exceeding $65 million.

helloDarwin also had quite the momentous 2020, completing three Canadian accelerator programs, including NextAI Montreal, FounderFuel and DMZ Ryerson.

"helloDarwin has found a formula that improves trust and confidence of both buyers and sellers in the complex marketplace of B2B services," said CEO Mathieu Plante.  "We combine the technology and  personalized account management that elevates the success of outsourcing projects on a variety of opportunities."

helloDarwin was founded after Plante saw that 50 percent of the first partnerships between customers and service providers fail because they do not have the same vision.

The company ultimately changed its name to helloDarwin to better reflect its ability to match together clients and service providers sharing similar visions. Plante uses the Darwin quote that "the species that survive are not the strongest, nor the most intelligent, but those that adapt best to change".

Clients listed on helloDawin's website include Manulife Insurance, Metro, Gameloft and Mercer.
